    Dr. Karen Perekalsky is a licensed optometrist who provides comprehensive family vision and eye care services. She has extensive training and experience in the treatment and management of ocular disease, as well as routine and complex contact lens fittings.

    Dr. Perekalsky received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Russian literature from Brandeis University in 1999 and her Doctorate of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry in 2006. After graduation, Dr. Perekalsky completed a one year fellowship in cornea disease and contact lens management in New York City. Her advanced training in complicated contact lens fittings allows her to treat patients with Keratoconus, irregular corneas, corneal transplants, corneal scarring and other ocular conditions. She also performs both soft and rigid gas permeable contact lens fittings for presbyopia (multifocal/monovision), astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia prescriptions.

    Dr. Perekalsky became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2009 and is a director on the board of the SUNY College of Optometry Alumni Association. She was born in Israel, grew up in Brooklyn, and resides in NYC with her husband. She is fluent in English, Polish and Optometric Spanish. She has been working at Optyx on the Upper West Side since 2010 and loves being a part of the neighborhood community.
